what are crochet planner blog image
We’ve all seen them, those books with balls of yarn on the cover, or a witty phrase that only a crocheter can appreciate and resonate with. But what are Crochet Planners? Are they really of any use? Do I need one?

They go by several names, crochet tracker, crochet diary, crochet planner, WIP planner or even just a crochet notebook.

But what are these crochet books, what are they for, how do you use them and more importantly do you need one?

My first encounter with one of these intriguing books was when I was given one as a birthday gift. Crocheters can be hard to buy for, so I was impressed that they found something crochet related that I hadn’t heard of before – check out the Christmas Crochet Gift Guide if you too struggle for ideas.

I was intrigued by this book. It was fairly basic with ideas on what to track and keep note of for each project. I could definitely see a use for it especially since I have a habit of putting a project down for several months when I feel frustrated with it. A place to keep all my notes, and record what hook I was using and the pattern details would stop me from being frustrated at forgetting all these things when I got around to picking up that project again.

Crochet Planners are an organisational tool where you can have all your notes in one place. No more random bits of paper everywhere or relying on your memory. They are a way for you to keep your crochet projects organised and to avoid forgetting the details if you put your project to oneside for a while.

Some crochet Planners have space for you to doodle new pattern ideas, or include guides to crochet symbols and abbreviations. Some are designed just to track your WIPs, or to keep track of your yarn stash. Different crochet Planners focus on different things.

If you are looking for a place to keep all your crochet notes together in one place and keep yourself organised then crochet planners are the perfect tool for you.

What crochet planner do I recommend? Well it’s got to be the 2022 Incredibly Awesome Crochet Planner of course!

The 2022 Incredibly Awesome Crochet Planner is an all in one Crochet organisation tool. It is filled with quick reference guides to symbols, abbreviations and hook sizes. It has WIP trackers, yarn tracker, gift planning, temperature planning and so much more inside.

But I only want to track my crochet WIPs

If you only want to keep your current projects organised, then a full on crochet planner is going to be a bit over the top for you.

You can get crochet Planners that only have WIP planning pages for your current project. This WIP tracker for example, has space to keep notes for 90 projects! That should keep you going for a while.

WIP planners have space or you to keep track of the hook size you’re using, the pattern name and designer, what yarn you’ve chosen to use and usually have space for you to record the yarn instructions and any special notes you wan to keep a record of

Are there crochet planners for only keeping track of my yarn?

If you only want a way to keep your yarn organised, then why not take a look at this yarn stash tracker. There are 50 pages, and you can organise by storage space so you never have to wonder what is in each drawer or box again. You can record the yarn producer, the yarn type, weight and colour.

You won’t have to rummage through your stash all the time to see if you have any suitable yarn for a project, you will just have to flick through your yarn stash tracker. How much time will that save you?

Ultimately crochet Planners exist so that you can feel more in control of your crochet and yarn, and give you a place to keep all your notes in one place. They save you time and energy by having everything at your finger tips in one place, so you no longer have to rummage through drawers or rack your brain to figure out which hook size you were using 6 months ago. There are many different types of crochet planner to choose from, each designed in a different way. Have a browse at all the ones on offer to see which would suit your style best
