They go by several names, crochet tracker, crochet diary, crochet planner, WIP planner or even just a crochet notebook.
But what are these crochet books, what are they for, how do you use them and more importantly do you need one?
My first encounter with one of these intriguing books was when I was given one as a birthday gift. Crocheters can be hard to buy for, so I was impressed that they found something crochet related that I hadn’t heard of before – check out the Christmas Crochet Gift Guide if you too struggle for ideas.
I was intrigued by this book. It was fairly basic with ideas on what to track and keep note of for each project. I could definitely see a use for it especially since I have a habit of putting a project down for several months when I feel frustrated with it. A place to keep all my notes, and record what hook I was using and the pattern details would stop me from being frustrated at forgetting all these things when I got around to picking up that project again.
Crochet Planners are an organisational tool where you can have all your notes in one place. No more random bits of paper everywhere or relying on your memory. They are a way for you to keep your crochet projects organised and to avoid forgetting the details if you put your project to oneside for a while.

You can get crochet Planners that only have WIP planning pages for your current project. This WIP tracker for example, has space to keep notes for 90 projects! That should keep you going for a while.
WIP planners have space or you to keep track of the hook size you’re using, the pattern name and designer, what yarn you’ve chosen to use and usually have space for you to record the yarn instructions and any special notes you wan to keep a record of
