It’s week 17 of the Country Garden crochet along. This week we’re making the Arrow stitch again but this time we’re doing the colourwork version. Your arrows will really stand out this way with 1 colour used for the arows themselves, and another colour used for the background.
If you would like the ad free printable version, it is available either as part of my Lifetime Pattern Pass, or you can purchase it on its own for just £5 from Ravelry
This pattern is written in US terms, but the UK translation are:
- ch (Chain)
- sc (single crochet) = Double crochet
- dc (double crochet) = treble crochet
If you would like to follow my colour scheme in either Paintbox Cotton Aran or Caron Simply Soft, you can find my colours here

Row 1. With Colour C, join into the stitch after where you finished last week’s panel, above the Marigold section, and make a sc in that stitch.
Make a sc in the next 2 stitches. *ch1, skip the next stitch, then make a sc in the next 3 stitches* repeat between *and* your last stitch will be in the stitch before the corner stitches – 75 stitches
Row 2. Turn, ch1 and make a dc turning chain in the 1st stitch. Make a dc in each stitch, including in the ch1 spaces. Your last dc will be in the 1st corner stitch.
Row 3. Turn, ch1. Start a sc in the first stitch, but change to Colour A in the last 2 loops. Now we will make a tr into the unused loops in the ch1 space 2 rows below, but in the last 2 loops of the tr, change back to Colour C
Carry Colour A along the row and work your stitches over it.
Sc in the next stitch, ch 1, skip the next stitch then make a sc, changing to Colour A in the last 2 loops.
Now we will make our first full Arrow stitch (AS) – YO x2, insert your hook into the previous skipped stitch from front to back and pull up a loop. YO, pull through 2 loops, yo pull through 2 loops.
leave the last 2 loops on your hook YO x 2, insert your hook into the next skipped stitch and pull up a loop. YO and pull through 2 loops, YO pull through 2 loops,
now drop Colour A, and pick up Colour C YO pull through the last 3 loops.
*Skip the next st, sc, ch1, skip a st, sc, AS. Repeat from * until you have 2 stitches remaining. Make a tr in the same space as where your last AS finished sc in the last stitch.
When you’ve finished the row, cut off Colour A, but keep Colour C attached.

Cut off and weave in your ends
