It’s week 11 of the Country Garden crochet along. This week we’re making our Rose squares, which we will attach into the corners between our panels. We will be making 4 of them, to add a lovely 3d effect to our blanket.
This pattern is written in US terms, but the UK translation are:
- ch (Chain)
- sc (single crochet) = Double crochet
- dc (double crochet) = treble crochet
- tr (treble crochet) = Double treble crochet

Round 1. With Colour M, make a magic loop and ch1 (doesn’t count as a stitch) make 5 sc into the magic loop. Finish the round by slst into the 1st sc.
Round 2. Ch 1 (doesn’t count as a stitch) Working into the back loop only make 2 sc in each stitch – 10 stitches.
Don’t cut off, we’ll pick this yarn up again later, but you must leave your yarn (both your working thread and last loop) sitting on the front of your work.
Round 3. Join with Colour E into the last stitch of round 2, but only in the back loop. Make 2dc in the bl of each stitch making sure you keep your red yarn to the front of your work. Slst into 1st dc – 20 stitches
Round 4. Ch 1, and make a dc chain in the same stitch. Dc in the next 2 stitches.
*In the next stitch make (dc, tr ch2, tr, dc) all in the same stitch.
Then make a dc in the next 4 stitches* repeat between *and* dc in the last stitch. slst into the 1st dc. Cut off – 40 stitches.
Pick up Colour M again. You will be using the front loops of round 2. *In the front loop of next stitch make (2sc, 6dc, 2sc) all in the same stitch, then slst into the front loop of the next stitch*
repeat between *and* after you’ve made the 5th Petal, slst into the front loop of the slst at the beginning of Round 1.
In the front loop of the next stitch make *(2sc, 6dc, 2sc) all in the same stitch, then slst into the front loop of the next stitch.* repeat between * and* until you have 3 petals.
Cut off and weave in all your ends.
